01 / Overview

A clear signal across a moving joint

The crackmeter spans a crack, joint or structural break with a sliding shaft and articulated anchors. As the gap changes, the internal wire frequency changes with it.

Use it where the question is not simply whether a crack exists, but whether it is opening, closing or changing over time.

How vibrating wire works

The sensor’s wire follows the displacement between its anchors. An excitation sweep locates the resonant frequency, giving a stable movement measurement for trend charts and threshold alerts.

Span the movement. See the trend.

Fix the anchors to sound material on either side of the crack or joint, align the sensor with the expected movement and establish a baseline before monitoring begins.
