Ackcio’ s Employee Spotlight blog series gives us a chance to go behind the scenes and showcase the brilliant minds and dedicated team members who work hard to continue Ackcio’s success. For today’s Employee Spotlight series, we are featuring Rama Athiseshan, one of our Senior Software Engineers, who joined Ackcio in May 2018.

Introduce yourself and your role at Ackcio?

Hi, I am Rama, Senior Software Engineer in Ackcio, doing embedded firmware design and development. Some of my key responsibilities are to add innovative features on Ackcio’s device through software. I develop drivers for various geotechnical sensors and ensure high-quality readings out of each of our devices.

What does a day in the life of a Senior Software Engineer at Ackcio look like?

I start each day with a smile on my face, followed by technical meetings and cracking interesting development tasks, joining good lunchtime chats, and finally a smiling goodbye to end the day. Every day is special simply because of the people who work here and the meaningful work we do to help our customers save time, reduce cost and most importantly save lives by avoiding construction disasters.

What are the three traits that define you?

Dedicated, passionate, caring.

What drew you to Ackcio when you initially started and how has the company changed since then?

It’s been three years since I joined Ackcio. It was then housed in a small sharing space but filled with energetic individuals. I was drawn to their passion for technology and innovation. Today, we have expanded and reached a well-deserved level of success. We have built ourselves into a young prominent player in the field of geotechnical and structural instrument monitoring solutions.

What are some of your career milestones/accomplishments?

I’m proud when my work is appreciated by our clients. When they successfully use a software feature that I introduced which can help to improve data reliability and their work productivity, I consider it as a success.

What are the most rewarding aspects of your job?

It’s a satisfying moment for me when Ackcio started using my architectural design, which dramatically reduced our time to market.

If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would you like to meet?

A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, he was an Indian scientist, politician and president of India from 2002 to 2007. I admire him the most and always wanted to meet him. He inspired me in a lot of ways. His simplicity, dedication to his profession, love for children, and passion for science and technology are always an inspiration to every individual.

If you could have one super power, what would it be?

Power that I could stop hunger in the world. Food is a basic human right, however many people including children are suffering from hunger. I feel we should do something to end world hunger and make a difference in people’s lives.
