Alignment advances Ackcio’s mission of providing reliable wireless connectivity for all types of industrial monitoring sensors in diverse environments.

Singapore, 20 October 2020 – Ackcio Pte Ltd, a provider of wireless industrial monitoring systems, announced last week that it has joined forces with Canada-based Measurand Instruments Inc., a global sensor manufacturer producing patented ShapeArray deformation monitoring sensors.

Ackcio prides itself on building reliable wireless monitoring solutions for industrial monitoring applications. Our Ackcio Beam suite of products is widely used in construction and mining industries to monitor geotechnical and structural sensors. Ackcio’s innovative long-range, mesh communication technology, has allowed the Ackcio Beam solution to be deployed in all types of construction and mining projects in both aboveground and underground settings.

Measurand’s ShapeArray instruments are used globally to reliably and accurately monitor deformation. In many of our deployments, we observed that the ShapeArray is monitored using a different data acquisition system while other instruments were monitored using our wireless technology. This is when we realised that integration with Measurand ShapeArray would make it possible for both Ackcio and Measurand clients and partners to use one unified data acquisition system to monitor all types of instruments.

The partnership between Ackcio and Measurand is another step in our combined objective of providing cutting edge technology to the geotechnical industry to automate and modernize their monitoring projects. For Ackcio, this is another step towards our mission of being the industry standard for industrial wireless monitoring solutions.

“Over the past few years, we have been lucky enough to amass a large number of clients that have diverse deployments in the geotechnical sector. A commonality that we observed in their deployments was that they were using our Ackcio Beam technology to monitor their geotechnical sensors while the Measurand ShapeArray sensors were monitored using a different system. Many of our clients requested us to integrate with ShapeArray sensors so that they could use just one data acquisition system to monitor all sensors that are deployed on their site. I am happy that finally, the day is here where we can meet our clients’ requirements with beautiful integration of our Ackcio Beam system with the Measurand ShapeArray sensors,” said Nimantha Baranasuriya, CEO of Ackcio.

Last week, Ackcio unveiled a new Ackcio Beam product family member, named BEAM-DG-SAA, that supports all types of Measurand ShapeArray sensors. It can be battery powered to support ShapeArray sensors having segment lengths up to 100. If you are planning on using longer segments (up to 200), the BEAM-DG-SAA Node can be powered using an external 12V power supply. The BEAM-DG-SAA Node runs the same patented Ackcio Mesh technology that allows you to collect the ShapeArray sensor data over a multi-hop, long-range, reliable, wireless mesh network. This would essentially make it possible for ShapeArray deployments to be carried out in all kinds of locations, both above and below ground.

“We are excited to have a robust yet user-friendly solution to offer our clients who wish to perform wireless data collection, especially those clients looking to eliminate long runs of cable. The ability to work with both new and older ShapeArrays offers great flexibility to our clients,” said Chris Gairns, Director of Sales at Measurand. “Working with the team at Ackcio has been a pleasure over the past year, and the integration of ShapeArray with the Ackcio Beam system is an important development for Measurand.”

The BEAM-DG-SAA Node can be deployed on-site and configured to work with any ShapeArray sensor in minutes using the Ackcio Nimbus smartphone application. The application shows you the ShapeArray health data as well during the configuration process. The data collection frequency can be set using Nimbus and later changed on Snape, Ackcio Gateway’s web-based configuration software. You can export the ShapeArray raw sensor data in the Measurand .DAT file format from Snape, and later convert the data to engineering units using the Measurand SAA Suite software. The bottom line – both companies have worked together to provide seamless integration of the two products to deliver a second-to-none customer experience to their clients in the industry.
